Tim Bright's Vision to Preserve

The Preserve at Rock Creek would not be possible without Tim Bright.  His vision began at the top of Toxaway Mountain as he was looking down from Falcon Ridge.  An RV campground was about to open in what is now known as the Equestrian Center.  It immediately became Tim's mission to remove the campground and put the property into permanent preservation.  The first easement was set up in that meadow and Tim immediately ripped out the eye-sore of the existing concrete slabs.

It's always better to understand the developer's view of your investment.  Here are some additional questions and answers with The Preserve at Rock Creek's developer, Tim Bright.

1. What is it about this area that drew you to develop The Preserve at Rock Creek here?

Two main reasons that bring people to this area are the climate and the mountains. Cool summers with temp in the 80s during the day and 60s at night. The southern Appalachian Mountains offer beauty and lots of recreation.

2. What one thing stands out most from your perspective that makes The Preserve at Rock Creek unique?

First, we are the highest privately-owned mountain in the Cashiers-Toxaway area, which gives our homes the best views in the area. Overall the Preserve's organic layout makes the most of its natural surroundings through limited density, conservation, and tasteful design. Within our 320 acre development, 215 acres are placed in conservation. Other developments talk about "preservation" but we truly are.

3. What is your 3-year plan for The Preserve at Rock Creek?

My plan is to continue to attract people to our innovative development with its emphasis on large estate lots, land conservation, and the best long-range views. We are about limited density and blending in with the natural beauty. The infrastructure is well-conceived and built including 18 foot wide paved roads, all utilities placed underground with hook ups to each site, and a state certified water system, with satellite and internet also available.

4. What are some of the building options for families that choose to buy here?

We make it easy for a buyer to either purchase and/or build their dream home. Our homes are designed by top architects with an emphasis on "green". They range in size from a 2-bedroom 2-bath loft cottage to a 4-bedroom 4.5 bath custom home. We have created a state-of-the-art, turn-key program with an excellent team of award winning architects, builders, and designers to accommodate even the most demanding buyer's needs.

5. What is there to do at the Preserve?

There is lots to enjoy on the Preserve's 320 acres including walking the Rock Creek Trail and climbing to the waterfalls, horseback riding in our meadow, trout fishing in our two ponds or simply exploring the 115 species of flora and 100 species of animals that live on the Preserve. There is all of the great outdoors to enjoy but sometimes its about sitting on the porch and enjoying the views.

Also, The Burlingame Country Club is less than a mile away and offers memberships to those owners who want amenities like pool, golf, tennis, dining and family activities.

6. What is there to do in the area?

The Highlands-Cashiers area is famous for its recreation and mountain lifestyle. The Appalachian Mountains offers an esteemed playground for outdoor activity. Transylvania County is known as the land of waterfalls with over 1,000 waterfalls within 30 miles of the Preserve. The town of Cashiers has been a destination for the elite throughout American history. It is a historic cultural area with music festivals, antiquing, and great restaurants.

7. What final impression would you like to leave with a visitor?

If you're looking for large estate lots, limited density, conservation land, blending with nature, and the best views in the area, the Preserve at Rock Creek is it.
