John and Stacy Thomas purchased lot #10 and then built a restored cabin they call Sapphire Heaven. The Van Horns purchased lot #7, a 5 acre estate lot with a loft bedroom cottage. They then expanded it to 3 bedrooms / 3 baths. They are currently drawing plans for a larger home on their ridgeline.

Stacy and I actually found the Preserve at Rock Creek by accident. At the time we already owned a lot on the Horsepasture River, in another Sapphire development. Lot #7 - The Van Horns
We had decided to look for property in the mountains of western North Carolina, having spent time passing through the area on the way to bringing our children to camp. We settled on looking in Cashiers/Sapphire because we had stayed with friends nearby and were drawn to so many of the region’s attractive qualities - the incredible natural beauty of the woods and waterfalls, the mountain views, the availability of many golf courses and outdoor activities, the quaint shops and friendliness of the small towns, the proximity to both Asheville and Atlanta.
