We had decided to look for property in the mountains of western North Carolina, having spent time passing through the area on the way to bringing our children to camp. We settled on looking in Cashiers/Sapphire because we had stayed with friends nearby and were drawn to so many of the region’s attractive qualities—the incredible natural beauty of the woods and waterfalls, the mountain views, the availability of many golf courses and outdoor activities, the quaint shops and friendliness of the small towns, the proximity to both Asheville and Atlanta.
After driving around and looking at many of the developments in the area, we learned about the Preserve at Rock Creek. From the first moment we arrived on the property we knew we had found something unique and unlike anything we had seen.
Large estate lots are oriented so that you have incredible mountain views, and yet you aren’t looking right at another neighbor; you aren’t stacked on top of each other. We have enough space to really feel like we are tucked away in our own little world.
One of the things that really sold us was that even though you feel like you are away from it all up on the mountain, in less than 5 minutes you can be across the road at Burlingame Country Club playing golf or tennis or dining in one of their restaurants. The Preserve at Rock Creek was the only property we saw where you could experience all the advantages of a country club and not have to live in a golf community. The best of both worlds, definitely! Our family and friends that have come to visit have been able to enjoy the club amenities as well.
We love the idea of the Preserve being a natural conservation easement that permanently protects the land. There is so much wildlife to be seen, and the best-kept secret is the amazing hike on the property—gently winding along a beautiful mountain creek at the lower level, a bit more challenging higher up, with beautiful waterfalls along the way. It has something for every level. You can even fish in the ponds at the entrance to the property.
We have been extremely impressed with Tim Bright, the owner and developer of the Preserve, and with all of his staff. He spent a great deal of time showing us what he has to offer, and his enthusiasm and desire to make the property the most special place in the area was evident immediately. He is always available to listen to suggestions and answer questions. Unlike many owner/developers, Tim spends a great deal of time actually there on site; he’s not an "absent landlord." He really wants to create a true community in such a beautiful setting.
For us, the Preserve has it all, and when we found it, we knew we didn’t have to look any further. We were home.
